[sims] Assessment Manager - Reports and graphs

Hi,

 

I am working on a project to transform our reporting to parents based on our new curriculum I designed. I am working closely with our data administrators but seem to keep coming across one big stumbling block - Assessment Manager!

 

Problem number 1:

 

In year 7 we assess on a 5 point scale over a range of skill areas. As the 5 point scale is text and not a numerical value or level we associated the text with numerical value on the grade set, 1 being lowest, 5 being highest. This works fine on our mark sheets but when I want to send a bar graph home to parents to show how well their child is doing in each skill the graph generated through assessment manager on the word template always puts the numerical values on the y axis (1-5). It can't be altered or edited off - very annoying. It has also caused issues with some parents who (despite me adding a key) think that 1-5 are NC levels.

 

I suspect that I could write a macro to create my own graph (as the assessment manager ones are password protected) but I was wondering whether anyone on here can help with that and has a template I could work from as I haven't coded macros for a while.

 

Problem number 2:

 

In year 8 we are assessing how much knowledge a pupil has acquired in each subject and to what degree (using the same 5 point scale as above). I want to report this to parents as a table with all the knowledge they should know in one column and then 5 columns (headed up on the 5 point scale) with a "tick" in the appropriate cell. I did a search a while back and found I could write a IF THEN command for each cell that checks the value from the mark sheet and then adds a tick in the appropriate cell using the tick from the windings font. I can get this to work on a normal line of text in word but it doesn't seem to be working very well in multiple cells.

 

Any ideas?

 

Neither Scomis or Capita seem to be much help.

Hi Adrian. I've no experience with assessment manager.

Can you embed an excel sheet in the word template? I'd love to find out how you get on with this as it sounds really good.
