Printing from Chrome OS

how do guys deal with printing from chrome OS in a school environment?

 

we have a set of 50 units that need to print to a local printer on the network.

 

any suggestions?

Does chrome OS recognise there is a network printer? Also what make and model are your machines and printer?

the Chromebooks are samsung on a public network. the printer is a HP 4014n located on a private network. I know they are not in the same network but I am able to print from the school public network by using the ip ie. (http://printer_ip)

I have been told that there is a way of getting PaperCut to push the drivers out to the Chromebooks but I haven't had time to investigate this yet.

We have chromebooks and use papercut as it handles the google cloud print. Works very well.i can also use it to print from my phone when I am at home to my work printer.

In the future, ChromeOS will be able to print to legacy printers too.

If you have papercut you can make any printer into a google cloud printer.

I use print manager plus and there is an add on for that we use (thanks for reminding me btw!)
