Hi all

Over the summer holidays I installed a new network which included 20 new pc's from one of the UK's biggish IT supplier.

Before ordering I asked to have the specified SSD drive increased from the default size of 64gb increased to 128gb, this was agreed to via email and we paid an additional sum to cover the extra cost.

The pc's came (a week later than advised and with 2 usb ports not functioning on the fronts as they hadn't checked that the supplied motherboard could handle 4, despite advertising they could) with no OS as I planned to push out our own Windows image and software. I did the install and ran various programs to make sure they worked fine which they did, but the day before the teachers were due back I purely by chance noticed that the C drive capacity was smaller than I expected, none of the pc's had been fitted with a 128gb drive.

The company has admitted it was their mistake and have said in an email that don't know how to "fix it" apart from offering a refund on the difference in costs.

I'd like them to consider a bit of compensation, nothing excessive, but what I don't know.

Should I just accept the refund or should I ask for more?

Any thoughts from you guys would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

For that sort of mistake I wouldn't perhaps be asking for compensation but their word that they would come out to you with the correct size drives and replace them for you. Or they can have the whole lot back, as is your legal right.

Problem with that though is that these are all working teacher pc's, I haven't got the resources to swap them out and there is no way the Head would let me rebuild them with the correct drives in place during term time, it's a real pain!

@Snookered:

I would state that the amount of larger 128GB drives be sent to you at no cost to the school and that you would keep the smaller ones as the compensation for the amount of time wasted by yourself through no fault of the school.

Go get em! :)

I doubt that you will get compensation. I would be asking for an out of hours engineer at their cost. Is it the one that rhymes with in height?? I have a friend in their config centre that might be useful for you if so.
