Question Marks in e-mails when using Google App Sync

Hello!

 

I have a weird issue that's affecting staff. We have installed Google App Sync for the Outlook die-hard here but when they send e-mails, special characters like spaces and tabs are replaced with question marks. e.g.

??

Something?????????????????? tabbed

??

 

 

Google support on the issue is a bit thin on the ground and I have tried the advice of switching UTF-8 encoding on outgoing messages in G-mail settings which has had no effect. I have noticed though if I send the e-mail as plain text then the issue isn't present but that's not a solution really as our e-mail signature is HTML. Needless to say this wasn't an issue before on Exchange.

 

Has anyone run across this or have any suggestions?
