All my Primary schools went with LearnPads and love them, after a demo of Android, Apple and Learnpads it was a no brainer. They have been made for education, The apps are all educational, they link in with the smartboards, the teacher can take control of any tablet and show everyone else, even the most knuckle grinding teacher can add apps or switch to a different desktop. From a Primary school perspective I am not sure why you would want anything else.

The deal is off now! :D

LAUSD officially ends 'iPads-for-all' contract with Apple

Some schools will end up with Chromebooks however.

In a way this is not a bad thing to an extent, as it should drive Apple to do more in the education market with the iPad, I'm all for competition.

1:1 is great, we have been 1:1 since 2009 it works well, but we don't let them take the devices home, they stay in school. I only see it failing when nobody has said why are we doing it, and what for.
