Hello

I want to be able to students to access a VM on a PC. What is the best way to do this, all I want is the students to be able to open a VM make no changes to it, not add any VMs etc, is this possible, ie they have no menu options in the VM. I have been playing around with VM workstation and Oracle box, and as far as I can see in Workstation yes you can lock and restrict a given VM but all the various settings in the overall workstation control panel such as creating a new vm etc is still possible. Is what I am wanting to achieve possible ?

Any help gratefully received.

We've got a separate Hyper-V host set up for this now. All VMs are set to revert to checkpoint every midnight and will auto-start every 5 minutes if they are accidentally shut down. Students have full admin access to them but no Internet access from them. They connect over WFreeRDP in VM Mode. Doing it this way means you need a spare host (pick a refurbished one up for cheap from Bargain Hardware perhaps), but eliminates the need for each workstation to be of sufficient spec to run the VMs themselves.
