Which Chromebook?

We are looking at purchasing some Chromebooks for our students. We are looking at the Dell Chromebook 11 or the Acer C720 (non-touch). Does anyone have either of these and if so how are they coping with daily student use?

We have one of each of the Dell Chromebook 11 (4Gb Version), Acer C720 and Samsung XE303.

 

We haven't actually used them with students yet as we are researching chromebooks at the moment.

 

The teacher in charge of the research preferred the build quality and the speed of dell one over the others.

 

If you are buying in bulk - make sure you push your suppliers a fair bit as they can come up with some very keen pricing on these!

The screen hinges on the Acer look like they may become loose over time.

Just bought 26 of the dells for a chromebook experiment.

 

Initially I wanted some Samsung ones but all the suppliers I spoke to said Samsung were pulling out of the chromebook market, which made me wonder about the future of chromebooks

We are just starting a trial with a mixture of acer, samsung and dell chromebooks -can't see a massive difference in build quality or speed.

Dell seem to get better reviews.

Will post again after students have used them for a bit.

<*Gulp*>! We now have nearly 300 303's and another 90 500's. Maybe that's why we got such good pricing on them!

I had a supplier just the other day offer me a clearance price on some samsung chromebooks.

 

My thought at the time was that they were clearing them for a newer model....

 

Lets hope that is the case

I don't think it will make any difference if Samsung pull out or not. Google are committed to updates until 2017 (which isn't far enough away and probably in part explains the bargain basement pricing. After that what happens is anyone's guess. Shiny bauble ... bricks.
