Azure RemoteApp

Hi all,

 

I have office365 and I've signed up for the free azure ad too.

I like it and have started to link it into other services for authentication.

 

One thing I am quite keen on though, as I have a lot of iPad users in school, is presenting the remote apps I have on my RDP server through office365 to the ms Remote Desktop iPad app.

 

I've been searching and searching and I was pretty sure I found the correct article somewhere but i forgot to bookmark it and I can't find it in my various histories!

 

Please help.

I've had some success, I've found how to add an app from the quick start menu now.

 

I cannot however seem to be able to create a valid URI for the application.

 

I've tried urn//app.domain.com uri//app.domain.com app.domain.com etc with no luck.

I'm a bit further down the rabbit hope but i think i might have misunderstood what can be done, or at least how it can be done.

 

I think i need to create a local vhd with the application twitted on my local hyper-v then link it to azure.

 

Looking more complex than i initially thought. 😕

Hi Marshall,

 

The title and the content refer to two different offerings, if you want to publish Internal Applications to your users in a secure way without having to deploy servers in to a DMZ or manage a Reverse Proxy of some form then you might want to consider looking at AAD Application Proxy. At the moment the functionality is quite limited to No Authentication, Basic & Forms Based but the features in preview will grow over the next few months.

 

If you are looking for a replacement for your RDS Infrastructure that you have on-premise at the moment, then in this scenario you may want to consider looking at RemoteApp. This of course is a bit more complex especially if you want the Hybrid Scenario as it will require a VPN connection between the RemoteApp vNET and OnPremise.

Hi @EduTech , i am trying to set up a hybrid remote app. I have created a temple in hyper-v and prepared it with all the updates etc. I have signed up for the preview yesterday but when i go to manage my azure i cannot do the next step of adding a vpn connection as i don't have the remote app page. I also can't find support for this section anywhere, i assume because it's in preview. Any chance you could help? Thanks.

Has your subscription been granted access to the preview yet? if you do not see the icon on the left hand side in the management portal then it would seem not the Program Managers are normally quite quick at enabling the subscriptions but if this hasn't already been sorted it might be some time Tuesday now as ofcourse the US are on vacation on Monday.
