Mac + Papercut auth issue

We are having very inconsistent issues with the way our macs connect to our print server using SMB. Many will work just fine, but a few will give printer waiting for auth.

 

We have the newest papercut client installed, and the dialogue pops up upon first print and the user enters their info, and it will sometimes print fine for a few days and then eventually end up back in the same state.

 

Any suggestions?
