dany2010 Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Just got the keys to the new flat. Went in the bathroom and opened the cupboard. For some reason I though someone was going to jump out at me. No people but this in the bottom. Is it a heater?
elsiegee40 Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 It looks like a heater. The cupboard probably had a hot water tank in it once upon a time and was used as an airing cupboard. When the tank was taken out, it was probably replaced with the heatr so that the cupboard could still be used for airing the washing.... days before tumble dryers were commonplace 1
plexer Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Definitely a tube heater although doesn't look to be in the best of condition. Ben
elsiegee40 Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Definitely a tube heater although doesn't look to be in the best of condition. Ben I agree. I wouldn't risk switching it on!
dany2010 Posted August 15, 2014 Author Posted August 15, 2014 Cheers. Not switched it on. Never needed one before.
dany2010 Posted August 17, 2014 Author Posted August 17, 2014 Ripped it out today and surprised how light it was. Though it would be heavy. Replaced with a socket like galway said. Have noticed there's extra live wires behind some plugs in the flat that isn't on the socket circuit. It doesn't provide full power however as nothing can run from it and my socket tester doesn't light up properly.
plexer Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 The other sockets will be wired as a ring whereas this was wired as a spur. Ben - - - Updated - - - Are you renting or did you buy the flat? Ben
