Allowing Users to install

Hi Guys,

 

I have just found this forum and now work in ICt Education. So far so good.

 

I have an issue, I need to give a couple of users right to install and wanted to know whats the best way of doing this, is it on the PC its self or via the GPO.

 

SRV 2012 and Win7 Clients.

TBH the best way is changing the management structure so the users don't end up installing the internet one banner ad at a time on their systems. If you must look at it try adding a group of team leaders that are local admins and pushed out by the special security groups in GPO that staff take their laptops to in order to get authentication to install stuff. That way they at least need to justify their actions to someone.

Can you explain why you have to, someone might have suggestions of how to work around it.

 

 

Ten plus years in secondary schools and I have not had to do this, have installed things for them like alternative browsers for better compatibility with a finance app etc but never given anyone outside it access to install anything on their own - shudder
