Veeam Backup Create snapshot failed!

Hi All,

 

Getting an error on my Veeam backup - had it for a while now. It just will not back up a couple of my servers. I've done a bit of research and it points to the fact that the disk that is in use is larger than 2tb which can cause a problem. I've checked VMware and there are no snapshots for the server in question

Error:

Creating snapshot

CreateSnapshot failed, vmRef "2592", timeout "1800000", snName "VEEAM BACKUP TEMPORARY SNAPSHOT", snDescription "Please do not delete this snapshot. It is being used by Veeam Backup.", memory "False", quiesce "True"

A snapshot operation cannot be performed.

 

 

i have yet to find a resolution to it! Has anyone else had a similar problem or can shed any light on it please?

Can you create a snapshot manually bypassing Veeam trying to do it?

 

Which version of Veeam, and which version of vCenter + ESXi?

Yes i can create a snapshot thorugh vmware. I'm using version 4 (vmware) i know thats getting old now. hopefully will be upgraded next summer - when the school give me some money!

OK so i got 1 working However i have 3 servers that will not start and i get the message in my first post. If i try to go into VMware and create a snapshot i get

Nick, seems like the VMFS datastore the said VMs reside on is formatted with less block size required to make a snapshot. There's a pretty informative thread on the Veeam Community Forums discussing similar issue, please review for more details (great resource for everyone using Veeam products, btw).
