Dell 3020!

Bought a number of these for classrooms. Have started installing them today, i've had 2 that just will not clone to the projector using a vga splitter. the dell 3010's never gave me any problems. It seems that i get a picture on the projector but not on the monitor. even if i switch the vga cables round.

 

Any ideas anyone. i'm sure there must be a way

 

And yes i have done windows p and set to duplicate

if your using a vga splitter win+p will do nothing. At a guess the splitter/monitor cant handle the signal / resolution / refresh rate correctly try setting it as low as you can and se what happens

3020s have multi display option in BIOS that needs enabling, have you done that? (Assuming Win7?)

I read about the multi display option, but i cant find it in the bios. i updated it to AO3 and still cant see that option. It's the SFF version of the 3020

All the 3020's should have it, in all fairness not using SFF but ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_optiplex_desktop/optiplex-3020-desktop_Owner's%20Manual2_en-us.pdf page 38, seems to be on the SFFs too

Ah! I have some Optiplex 780s which refuse to output to monitor + TV. In the end we just swapped PCs around.

 

This makes sense now.

Solved it... I just put changed the monitor on the computer. What’s weird though, is that it’s from another classroom with the same computer same monitor and same projector and splitter, yet it works - odd! And the monitor that didn’t work works in the other room.

 

Some things are just unexplainable!
