Wirral_Wonderer Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 We have been running Office365 for a couple of years now and I am looking at setting up DirSync over the break to sync passwords with a view to moving towards SSO. So far I have created a new domain and users to keep everything clean and I have got our external UPN suffix setup in AD Are there any pitfalls for watch out for? for example, are mailboxes removed if they are not in AD, how does the matching of mailbox to AD work?
benjie Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Hi, You'll have issues with mailboxes been deleted, if you have to user accounts setup with the same email in AD, this is occurred with us when we brought our admin domain as part of a curriculum domain in the summer. It matches accounts up based on the UPN. Benjie
Wirral_Wonderer Posted July 18, 2014 Author Posted July 18, 2014 Hi Benjie, In that case do I need to make sure that every mailbox we want to keep has an account in AD? Jeremy
benjie Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 You don't need to have an account in AD for every email address. You can still have account that purely stored in o365 and can still create them just in o365. 1
Wirral_Wonderer Posted July 18, 2014 Author Posted July 18, 2014 ok that makes sense. Thanks I think I will have to just have to try it and see!
