edutech4schools Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 I am migrating from SQL 2008r2 (full) to SQL2012 (free) which is part of the Sims migration utility. I kicked of the migration about 45 mins ago and the utility is still at stage 1, which is installing SQL2012 express. Anyone recently used this tool? if so how long did it take to complete this stage. By the way it has not crashed and the blue bar is moving at the bottom of the util its just I could have manually installed this a few times over by now.
neilenormal Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Try running just the sql installer, rather than the migration tool. The circumatances could indicate that your machine doesn,t meet minimum spec for sql? We had this once and found that when you run the sql installer separately it offers a message as to why it doesnt meet min spec: in our case a service pack was missing. Install the service pack amd all was well. HTH 1

edutech4schools Posted July 14, 2014 Author Posted July 14, 2014 When I run the 'System Config Checker' It displays the results page for like a nano second and the vanishes. I have tried to screen capture the results but so far have not been able. Not a great start so far.
