Backup up exec 2014 + DC error.

Backup Exec does not like my backing up my DC stopped working and giving this message?

I have cheeked permission all the other server our working fine.

 

Backup- \\server.domainlocal\System?StateV-79-57344-41488 - Due to one or more errors in \\server.domainlocal\System?State, this backup cannot be used for conversion to virtual machines, Simplified Disaster Recovery (SDR), or a complete online restore.

 

V-79-57344-33928 - Access Denied. Cannot backup directory \ and its subdirectories.

Has an admin account had its password changed/expired that is used for performing the backups? Or maybe the shadow copy service has stopped??

The VSS had stopped on one DC the other one it was fine

It fail again I hate backup exec is a useless product and fails if everything is not exactly right it worked last week. I have restarted both the VSS and backup exec services and it is still playing up. I am getting v-79-57344-33928 access denied cannot backup directory \ and it subdirectories. It got domain admin permissions!!

Is the account also a member of the Backup Operators group?

Yes it is a member of the backup operators it is the system state part that is failing.

One DC is backing the other one is complaining about its system state and access problems I have turned logging on but cant not make any sense of the logs.

I am having the exact same problem as you describe above right now and I am kinda lost for the solution.

Did you find out what the issue was with your backup?

From the backup exec console check you have updated the client on the server you are trying to backup. In the passed I have turned off auto update on the backup server. Then look at the size of the VSS writer partition and any restriction on size. Then restart the backup service. Then after that you might need a reboot.

Have you run windows update on the server recently? Earlier this week we ran a windows update and it changed the share permissions on the virtual hard disk so the virtual host did not have access to boot correctly. We had to use icacals to redefine permissions for the virtual host, then it worked fine. Not sure why it affected only one of the virtual machines!
