Office 365 Profile Photos

Does anyone know if the profile photos on office 365 emails show externally?

 

I've tested it with Gmail and the profile picture isn't shown, but cant think of how else to test it.

 

Basically some of our staff have refused to have their photo as they think it might be show up for parents and they might be recognized in the street.

In Lync Online if you have setup a federation the other people in the other organisation who have your staff photos in the Lync clients.

Good luck with that! We tried to import staff photos into our internal Exchange org. Let's just say that they're not there any more...

Can anyone think of reasons to do it?

 

So far I've got:

 

- Reduces the chances of sending an email to the wrong person accidently

- Easy to identify staff when communicating

- Helps new staff get to know existing staff

- Promotes communication between staff when they see a “real” person behind an email address

We import all our student photos for the same reasons. We have a few members of students and staff with the same first and last name. Makes life a little easier.
