Windows 8.1 manually deploying apps from the windows store

Hi,

 

I need to deploy Kodu to my Windows 8.1 machines, the previous version for Windows 7/8 msi based doesn't work (install prematurely ended error).

 

There is a new version, but it is only available from the Windows store. How can I deploy this to other machines. I don't want users going into the Windows Store themselves.

 

SCCM deployment is basically just a shortcut to the windows store and the users have to click install themselves.

 

Anybody come up with a workaround?

No, it the end for Kodu, install .net framework 3.5 allowed the old version to work....

I would like to deploy the onedrive for business apps, but Sccm will only provide a link to the windows store. Then the user must manually install it...

Most of the windows apps also appear to be per-user which is a pain.

Yeah I've just been having a read through the thread below;

MS really have failed with education and the store. On a 1 to 1 basis it ought to work great but in a shared environment it's just not feasible to go around installing manually and we don't allow students access to the store for obvious reasons.

 

Fingers crossed they find a better solution for Windows 9. Never did I think I'd be recommending an Apple product over an MS one but manageability is key.
