@ elky...i'm planning on my next piercing being my nipple...could be interesting. I don't know that i can get it done though. (Just to alter the tone of the thread :) )

Go for it! I got mine done about 8 years ago. Admittedly I was slightly under the influence of alcohol at the time but I had thought about it before that and then just decided to go for it! It hurt slightly but only for a few seconds then its over with.

Funny thing was, I went in to the room to have it done and the guy left the door open. Everyone in the shop stopped to have a look while I had it done so I had to put on a nice brave face!

Anyway, if you want it done then I say go for it!

For some reason, I've never understood this fashion where young women get a tatoo going across their back just above the crack of their arse. You know like cheryl cole - it looks quite frankly hideous.

We call those 'slag-tags' or 'tramp-stamps' - usually accompanied by the offer of an std.......

I actually find that comment highly insulting and so would several of my friends. It clearly shows the level clearly shows how narrow minded people are on this site.

calm down cletus, i actually found what he said to be quite humorous.

I think it's obvious you've had a sense of humour bypass, and you should quit with calling people whom you don't even know narrow minded. Now THAT I consider highly offensive.

Actually I am calm and I have not had a sense of humour bypass. I am however not going to retract my comment. I am fed up of people who try and pass judgement on people whose lifestyle may differ from what people percieve as the "norm" and then try and pass those comments as humorous.

i agree that to each his own in terms of what they do with their bodies...

but at the same time, a lot of these things are a "trend" and could lead to regrets e.g. the man who tatooed a big mural of his wife and family on his back, but she left im for his best mate two weeks later or something, now he's stuck with the thing...

things like branding are with you for life and it should not be a decision taken lightly, something that looks cool in the moment might turn out to be a regret in the long run... so think about it!!! especially the amputation thing, to me that doesn't make sense, did anyone watch that program about voluntary eunuchs a lil while back... jeeeez

Richard - you obviously have strong feelings about this issue, and that is fine, but you must allow other people to have strong feelings as well, without resorting to throwing insults at them.

There IS a certain type of girl who gets that tatto and maybe the implants, and people are entitled to their opinion of those people.

Of course people can do what they like with their own bodies/lives, but that also means that people can express an opinion as well, whatever it is, without being gratuitously insulted.

As Voltaire said:

"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."

just thought I'd lift the tone a bit!!!!

This thread is getting rather heated and I think that the guy that started it [Hi aliv25] not have wanted it to go this way. Also, although it is in the ‘General Chat’ strand I would suggest that we are way off the original aims of Edugeek with this one. Sure have a frank and open discussion about topics that move you but when you start abusing people personally and making threats about what you might or might not do if you met. I think that it life is too short for all of this to-and-fro abuse. Just my opinion. Don’t ‘flame’ me for it!

Ok folks ... time to calm things down.

Poking fun at stereotypes may be amusing at times but there are times you have to realise that it can go to far.

Likewise, if baited do not respond in abusive language.

So Tony edited my post after someone made, what was an insulting comment aimed at my girlfriend.

Sorry but I will not back down on this matter as far as I am concerned, and as for deleting my post whilst leaving up that insulting comment made by DanIT goes to show how low people have sunk on this site.

To be honest I do not care if I get kicked from this site now for standing up for something I believe in.

OK, I am locking the thread now ... I would just make one comment about all of this.

Do not attack alternative lifestyles, do not attack those who conform to society. Make social comments, not personal attacks. Make astute observations not drive stereotypes.

Finally ... do not feed the trolls, if you are unhappy about personal attacks then contact Mods or Site Staff.
