SCCM and smart notebook

Having problems deploying Smart Notebook 11 through SCCM.

 

Firstly, it never seems to install the gallery despite me having put the setting in Smart Manager.

 

Secondly, if I uninstall and then try to reinstall it says it is already compliant.

 

Anyone got any ideas?

On point 1 what happens when you install manually and not via SCCM?

 

The second point, if you want to redeploy it delete the existing deployment and create a new one. Somewhere on in the wizzard there is a drop down an option to always reinstall. The default option is only redeploy if a previous install had failed.

On the 1st point, everything installs as it should

 

On the 2nd point, I have only seen always reinstall for packages, where is it for msi deployment?

I have even tried running it with the command myself from the cached files and it works just fine then too. Bit of an annoying one this.

When I install manually a separate UAC prompt comes up for the gallery install part. Might try packaging the gallery in with it and refer to it within the package and see if that works. If anyone else has any ideas feel free to share.

Are the galleries stored on a network share?

Yup they are. But it installs fine when I run it myself from the command line, that's the odd thing. It is on the same share as the other source files that it is using for the install, so this makes no sense to me. Like I say, when I get time I will try adding the gallery to the package and referencing in the mst to a relative directory.

You shouldn't get uac prompts if installed to the system. You can use psexec to run as the system account. This may help to eliminate access right issues on the share where the gallery is.

Same situation as point 2. I've installed the software and the galleries into the reference image for the pc, then created a package with install manager for only the drivers. Deployed with sccm 2012 (no errors) but it returns the "already compliance" voice. Any suggestion?

It depends if the drivers and software share the same MSI code. You may need to change the detection rule. Find the MSI code for the driver msi .

Registry

Hklm\software\microsoft\windows\uninstall

 

Add syswow64 after software if 64 bit PC. Can't remember if the drivers entry is on the 64 bit or 32 bit.

 

 

Search for smart. Look at uninstall string registry entry.

 

Should be msiexec /x{code}

An easier way is to setup the deployment as available rather than required, when testing. That way you can install and uninstall as required through software center.
