What is wrong with this kid? Seriously!

The problem he has is thus:

 

He was "discovered" at 9, and put through the music system to be a mass marketed pop icon...and it worked. At such a young age, it went too his head.

He had no childhood. The music business stripped him of it.

He had nobody to say no. His mother often said she would say no too him, but the music executives would give him what he wanted anyway, so she gave up.

He had no strong role model. Everyone around him was pushing him to be a teen icon, and what they thought would be good. It backfired as his teenage years set in and he began to rebel.

 

Give it 2 - 5 years, I predict a drug fueled suicide or a wreck-less drink driving accident.

Good on him! Kid's got the world at his fingertips and slogs a rubbish job.

 

His parents had the common sense to instill a work ethic in him and that nothing would be handed too him on a plate. Both of his parents had to earn what they got, and worked hard to get where they are now. Good on them for instilling the same for their children.

Oh, very much so. As much as I think that fashion models and football players get paid a teency bit more than they 'should' (which, of course, is all subjective opinion), they've certainly gone up a notch on my respectometer for trying to teach him his own independence, responsibility and value for money. And props to him for actually going through with it. I know I wouldn't have been too keen on working in a coffee shop at 15, if I'm completely honest.

 

Then again, I wonder how much recognition and attention he gets, and how much business it brings the coffee shop. Would you really turn the opportunity down if his CV landed on your desk?
