Gadgets in google sites

When users here try to insert a gadget into their google site, they get a list of the gadgets but with no preview image, and they cannot select the gadget to insert it!

 

Anyone else seen this? I don't think its anything to do with our filtering as the google apps domain is pretty much whitelisted, and I can't see any settings in the Adming console that would do this?

 

Edit: can't see anything being blocked by our smoothwall (not that proves it as we often have to allow unauthenticated stuff through it) but its just like the Select button does nothing!

Well if anyone is trying the same, I ran fiddler to inspect the http requests - when Select is clicked it tries to access a url:

And thats it. Very odd and I'm pretty much stuck at that point now.
