Do any Free schools on here have a favoured MIS?

Just interested in what MIS Free schools are using since they have a fresh start and are not reliant on any incumbent provider.

 

Any Free schools on here want to comment?

Free schools are bound by the same financial regs as academies as they are spending public money. There should a proper scheme of delegation set up with three quotes required for larger purchases. I haven't got my academy one to hand so can't remember the amount.

 

As for MIS, it depends on whether the school is secondary or primary. They have different requirements. Beyond that their needs are likely to be the same as their maintained or academy equivalents.

Go through the suppliers on the IMLS Framework and shortlist 3 that fit your criteria (cloud based, not cloud based, primary, secondary and so on).

Get those 3 in for a demo.

Negotiate.

Choose your favourite.

@winng have you seen @GREED site? Market Statistics | Eduware Consulting - he's joined all the FOIs for what MIS systems school (inc Academies and Free Schools) in England used to submit the Autumn Census for the last few years. So any supplier listed has successfully implemented their MIS and the school has completed a Census return so they should have a good feel for the system.

 

At the bottom you're find the raw spreadsheet which you can then filter by Establishment Type (Free Schools). Hope that helps.

You can download the spreadsheet and use how you wish, in case that isn't clear. Statistics are as accurate as possible and taken directly from DfE census returns. For your purposes it should give you a good idea!
