crc-ict Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 I'm having some issues with some of my computers failing to pick up GP deployed software. It isn't happening to all of the machines, but the same ones seem to exhibit the problem. The just don't seem to be picking up the Group Policy updates over a large number of reboots. All of the machines will update and install the software upon issuing a gpupdate /sync /boot locally. The machines are getting shutdown at night and show no other problems. We are running Windows 8 and Server 2012. Any ideas? Thanks Chris.
whartomt01 Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 It's probably the windows 8 fast boot thing. If you reboot the machines even without gpupdating do they get the software. I think if you turn off hibernate they won't do the fast shutdown so will then pickup software on startup. But then will take longer to turn off and on
crc-ict Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 I think you might have hit the nail on the head there, didn't think about that one. Now to work out just how badly everyone will lynch me if I turn it off when they realise their PCs take longer to start up...
whartomt01 Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 I just had the same thing but it's only a little primary school. I've just installed Specops free on the server and reboot the pc's remotley when i need software to roll out. So i leave the fast shutdown on. Windows 8 is weird lol Cheers Martin
