We run ours on VMware. The only advise I have is this - Although I probably won't apply to Hyper-V.

thanks for the quick repsonce, other than the issue you have mention how do you find the performace and what hardware spec have you given your server?

Hi,

I know this might "bump" this post, but I thought I'd reply for you.

I use SCCM 2012 R2 on a VMWare server. I have given it 4 processors and 10gb ram.

We have around 700 clients and 1000 users and it seems to run fine. Originally I had given it just 8gb, but I upped it to 10 and it fixed numerous problems with response times/speed and since then it's been fine.

Ideally it should have quite a bit more ram, but I don't currently have the resources to give it (hopefully soon though!!!).

I see you said about having the SQL Server elsewhere for it. Personally, I would say it would be best to keep the SCCM Server to it self entirely. SQL and SCCM on the same box (that's how I have it with that spec). You should find it will run a little better. With it being virtual, you don't have to worry so much about problems as you can snapshot...etc, but I have NEVER had any problems and I have had it like this for over 12 months now. Just give it a reboot say once a week or so.

Hope this helps.
