IE9 Group policy on Server 2019 to remove Auto detect settings in LAN settings

We are running 3 Server 2012 domain controllers. We have an issue where in computers that still have IE 9 on they have the tick in the box

for Auto detect settings in the LAN settings area. I have applied a new policy for IE 9 but cannot remove the tick as the setting is greyed out.

In the IE 10 group policy you can remove the tick. Anybody experienced the same issue or advice how to get round it. We cannot upgrade

to IE 10 or 11 at the moment due to it being needed for some Science software.
