cdunn93 Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Hi all, Have recently updated all PC's in an IT Suite to Windows 7 however when you log in as an admin you have sound but not when you log in as a student or other user. When you log in as a student it comes up with the sound muted and when i try and change this it says 'could not open mixer device' so I did a bit of research on this but I cannot do anything as a student user cannot access the control panel, device manager etc. We use RM CC4 and all the PC's have the correct drivers etc installed on them. Would anyone have an idea as to what is causing this?? Many thanks
themightymrp Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 I imagine you have Realtek audio on the machines? I have posted about it on here before with a fixit, I will try and find my post.....

cdunn93 Posted April 23, 2014 Author Posted April 23, 2014 When I try and unmute it doesnt ask me for a password it just comes up with the message not able to open mixer devices, i will try the other solution however and see if that works. Much appreciated
Dkeen94 Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Hi cdunn93, See this article as we had the same problem and this reg key fix enables the sound icon for people to be able to change the sound! http://www.rm.com/support/technicalarticle.asp?cref=tec3549589 Regards,
