Hi,

 

I realise that 7 Thin is designed for: "Windows Thin PC empowers enterprises to leverage their end point hardware investments to access virtual desktops that are delivered using VDI" etc, etc. I'm curious to see if anyone has used these operating systems to run some local applications such as Web browsers and Office 2013? Rather than connecting to virtual desktops.

yes it will run local app's , but why would you want too?

 

We have windows 7 thin PC locked down on older pc's as a sort of "thin client" , just to connect to the VDI , if you really wanted too i suppose you could get remote app working with it

Might want to do it for machines that run XP but can't run 7.

 

ThinPC doesn't include .Net Framework so you might have an issue.

I've not tried with Windows Thin PC, but there were were restrictions on Windows FLP that prevented you installing Microsoft Office on it.

No, because applications like Office aren't allowed.

Yes, you can run applications that fall into one of the following categories:

• Security
  
• Management
  
• Terminal emulation
  
• Remote Desktop and similar technologies
  
• Web browser
  
• Media player
  
• Instant messaging client
  
• Document viewers
  
• .NET Framework and Java Virtual Machine
  

However, you cannot run any productivity applications, such as Microsoft Office or similar applications. (Source)

Thanks, I've read this before. Is it that you're not allowed by Microsoft (Licensing) or is it that it's not supported?
