Currently trying to cut down the time for users logging in for the first time. The first user who logs in takes 2 mins for the desktop to appear.

On the same pc other usrrs take about 1 min.

I've noticed ie4uinit.exe runs a lot. Does anybody know what it does and does it require internet access.

what server you running ? desktop OS ? policies ? :)

We are looking at ours at the moment here, as there is an issue with things like Folder REdirection taking an age to complete.

Check all your gpos for paths that are incorrect like in scripts. When we moved servers it took us a few weeks to go through the gpos but it made a big difference. Also check for arping machines

I have the same issue. When you log in for the first time it takes ages. Group policy printer policy takes a long time as we have about 7 network printers to install. It would be interesting to find out how to speed boot up time.

Seemed to have narrowed the problem down to 2 events of notifychangedirectory operation captured using procmon by lsass.exe taking 25 secs to complete. Its on c:\users\\appdata\local\microsoft\credentials and c:\users\\appdata\roaming\microsoft\credentials . The peration is by the SYSTEM account so it doesn't seem like permissions.
