SOLVED: Sharepoint 2013 408 HTTP Error

Hi all

 

I have a SP 2013 Dev server, today I've been trying to set it up so that it is accessible externally over https..

 

Internally I can browse to https://vle.school.url.sch.uk, externally I am presented with an Error Code: 408. I'm assuming that the problem lies with the IIS or Sharepoint config, but I don't know where. One area I'm not 100% sure on is the Alternate Access Mappings, I *think* I have it set up right. I've spent the day going through Google results but have got nowhere. I'm after some advice of where to turn next.

 

Running Sharepoint 2013 Enterprise all updates up to but not including SP1, hosted on Server 2008 R2.

 

Any ideas where to look?

Have you changed the bindings in IIS?

Yeah, on the SharePoint site I have added https and the valid certificate in the bindings.

 

I'm currently reading this which suggests the way I have done things is incorrect, I did edit the AAM manually and then edit the bindings in IIS, this article suggests I need to extend the Web App which will make a new site in IIS and link to the same Web Application. I've tried this and it doesn't seem to work (restarted iis etc)

Solved.

 

After pulling my hair out over IIS settings I decided to go back and check the NAT rules in the firewall that my colleague had configured, turns out some settings were missing in there.

 

Working now
