RDS and Remote Apps

Hi

 

Does anyone have any experience with RDS and Remoteapps and how to publish SIMS and get it to actually work. A step by Step guide would be great.

 

Every time I have tried it, it has either open and shut itself or it errors.

 

Any help?

Hi,

 

First of all check that SIMS runs as expected on the RDS server, if it does then great.

 

When publishing the app on RDS point it to the Pulsar.exe (In the SIMS install directory) on the RDS server, you can rename the published app to SIMS once you've added the application.

 

This is how we've done it and it's working great, however you will need to open it on the RDS server ocassinaly to get any updates.

If you need it to map the S:\ first to run sims, I've published the app we use here which maps the s:\ and then runs pulsar.exe

ahh right. havent pointed it to Pulsar.exe before. Thank you both for that info...ill take a crack at it and then i might be able to get some of the SLT of my back!.

I have (finally) got sims working internally with rdweb and remoteapps on server 2012 datcenter but not externally.

 

I can get onto the rdweb outside and click to open SIMS.net that I have published but its getting an error stating that the "remote desktop gateway server address is unreachable or incorrect" has anyone else had this issue and managed to sort it?

 

Could this be something to do with the published app using internal DNS address?

Hi,

 

Have you forwarded the correct port on your internet router? RDP is port 3389.

 

You need to set port 3389 from external to the internal IP of the Apps server.

 

It will either be under NAT or Port Forwarding on the router.

i have just added port forwarding for that port now. fingers crossed that this works. i will test from home.

You can also do this with a terminal server and a gateway. Sims runs ok on windows 2012 x64 but you do need to tweak the security and the shortcuts
