Sam_Brown Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Morning Guys, From time to time when students log into workstations they will get stuck on the "welcome" message for a long time. Anywhere between 10-30 minutes. Event viewer doesn't seem to indicate any issues and it seems to be completely hit and miss when it happens. We thought we'd narrowed it down to computers that hadn't been powered off properly previously but that doesn't seem to match the pattern any more. Anyone else experienced this at all?
Norphy Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 We had similar when we started with Windows 7. I put in a GPO to enable highly detailed status messages so we got a better idea of where it was getting stuck. It's under Computer Config\Admin Templates\System, enable "Display highly detailed status messages" The thing that took the most time for us was setting up folder redirection. 1

That particular setting was renamed in the 2012/W8 GPOs. In earlier versions it is called 'Verbose vs normal status messages' if you struggle to find it. 1
