nicholab Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 I am finally getting FTTC installed what is the best way to lave my wiring for the BT engineer. I currently have a NTE5 which goes to another NTE5 should I get the engineer to put the filter on the NTE5e installed by me and leave it and sort it out another time. The other option is should I fit two RJ45 sockets and leave them a phone side and a VDSL side to go in the BT's NTE5e face plate? What would you do? The domestic operations manager is supervising (Wife) so I will be speaking on the phone to the engineer when he turns up.
sted Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 in my case i had a filtered faceplate already and all they did in the house was unplug myt adsl router and plug in the new router (even uses all teh same cables) then went off to play in the street cab came back and i had fast broadband
AngryTechnician Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Having seen multiple installs in my area, round here they always fit the newest faceplate filter they are sent with, unless you already have the exact same one. Does your second NTE5 take a pre-filter or post-filter feed at the moment? If it's the latter, i.e. it's just a phone extension, I'm pretty sure they will wire that into the new faceplate for you.
nicholab Posted March 26, 2014 Author Posted March 26, 2014 My current NTE5 take an unfiltered signal the thing I don't want to make it in to the mater socket as I cant then change the cabling. The ideal thing would be if they could put the filter on the new NTE5 and pretend the other one did not exist. Or should I bite the bullet and put the RJ45 voice and RJ45 VDSL in now? Any one got the Pin outs for BT rj11 modem?
nicholab Posted April 8, 2014 Author Posted April 8, 2014 I used two rj45 feed by a cat 5e so I now have a voice socket and a vdsl socket
