I have bought a Plantronics headset for one of teachers to use speech to text.

Just trying to get it going now but, unless I hold the microphone RIGHT next to my mouth, it doesn't pick up what I say. It sits by default a sensible distance away - clearly as by design on the manufacturer, but it's not practical to hold it right next to my face - plus you get quite a bad recording as well that way.

Is there anything I can alter on my machine so it picks up the voice better? The headset has really good reviews so I imagine this can be resolved somehow?

Thanks.

If you open up the system audio properties, then go to recording devices and open the properties for the headset, have a look for a check box along the lines of "boost input" (sorry, all from memory!)

I have done that @LosOjos but I can't seen anything similar to 'boost input'. Thanks though :-)
