tmcd35 Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Hi, I'm trying to set up a new DNS server and think I may have got something wrong. This server is not domain joined and is being used on a public IP address in our DMZ to be the authorative name server for our domain - hobart.norfolk.sch.uk I have logged into our Nominet account and pointed the domain at our new name server. I have set up A records for out web server and MX records for our e-mail server. Not certain it's working properly. The webserver should be re-directing to another host at Website is under construction but I don't think the original domain is be resolved. Can anybody out there test our domain - http://www.hobart.norfolk.sch.uk/ and see if it does resolve and redirect properly? Also, have I done this correctly? should it work? Nominet points to our name server which then points to the hosts? Thanks
Mcshammer_dj Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 get a blank page pinging the site goes to 217.179.194.130 and I get replies 1
tmcd35 Posted March 20, 2014 Author Posted March 20, 2014 Thank you. So, we're going to the right IP, something not set up on the web server correctly (and my browser cache is carp). Always helpful getting an external view when diagnosing these types of problem
fiza Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Blank page here too. Successfully pinged the domain name with reply from 217.179.194.130 1
tmcd35 Posted March 20, 2014 Author Posted March 20, 2014 Yep, blank page is page redirect not working. Need to revisit the code for that. Important thing is the right IP is responding that means our DNS server is set up correctly and my PC is storing old data somewhere and needs flushing.
