Hi,

I've got a new 2012 R2 file server up and running with a few test shares and I'd like to get backup up and running. How do you back up hyper v machines?

I've got ZEN Backupassist with Hyper V module.

Do I stick it on the HyperV host and just backup the virtual disks? If so how can I then restore individual files the pupils delete? Or do I put it on each virtual machine?

Thanks

Get Veeam and its 1 click to backup a virtual machine :) It now also has an individual file restore if needed.

Otherwise you could do it manually by stopping the VM and copying the VHD file.

You can also export the VM which will keep all the network settings ect.
