Printers not working on Connected Switch

Here is what my setup is:

 

5500G-EI (core switch)

5500-EI (100M PoE Switch).

 

I have 2 vlans setup on the core, 1 and 18. Vlan 1 is all traffic, Vlan 18 is "workbench" traffic (it cant see anything on vlan 1). Vlan 18 is assigned ONLY to ports 10 and 22.

 

Now, I have ports 27 and 28 on both switches link aggregated to eachother.

 

On the 5500-EI, I have cameras and wireless access points. Those work absolutely fine. I need to add some non-PoE printers. I add them, but they don't work. out of 100 packets sent, 80-90% are dropped. The rest return with a reply anywhere from 1ms to 1000ms. I cant even get to the printers web interface. I'm puzzled. I plug in a computer or server, absolutely NO packet loss and response times are 1 or 2ms. Cameras and WAPs, the same thing. I can get to the web interfaces for the cameras and waps!

 

Its a small setup, but I cant figure out what the heck is going wrong!

 

Any ideas?

We have this with seceral printers normally older ones pluged into 1 gig switch some we can fix the ip on the printer others we have to plug the point into an older switch

If you adjust the duplex speed settings on the switch and also manually set it on the printer. Does that help?

 

 

So for example on the switch set it to 100mbps full duplex and set it the same on the printer. If its still the same try it on 10mbps full duplex on both the switch port and on the printer again

You can also change the speed of the port on thr switch and fix its speed

I just tried setting to 100M Full and it didnt work. What doesnt make sense, is if I plug the printer into the Gig switch (5500G), they work with NO hiccups.

 

Also to point out, if left to Auto on both ends. Both switches (the one that works and the one that doesnt) auto-negotiates to 100M/Full Duplex.

Does anyone else have any ideas on what to try? I've even tried a second 5500EI just in case it was the switch.

What printer models have you tried? I do find some printers have ugly network habits.

I've tried tons of printers. I've used a JetDirect USB to Network card, HP 4000 series, Brother MFC (office copier), Ricoh AP 610, HP CP1525NW.

 

Definitely not the printer. Like I said, if I plug into the 5500G, they ALL work. I hate wasting space on a gig switch for printers and having PCs that can use the Gig on 100M switches.

Update the switches firmware, get another switch and connect that into the gig switch so you arent using too many of the gigabit switches ports?

Firmware is the latest. Just flashed again to check.

 

Tried another 5500-EI, same issue. There has GOT to be a setting in this thing that I'm missing.
