IT Asset/Software register

Hi guys,

 

I was just wondering how you log your IT assets and software and also what software is installed where? Our network is not on a domain so it's a group of networked PCs and no server. I am just exploring ways to improve our documentation and make it easier for us to log changes and keep our documentation as up-to-date is possible. We have a very limited budget so I'm looking for free solutions.

Have you tried Spiceworks? Not sure myself whether it works on a non-domain environment but could be worth a shot.

Once you have the bulk, the rest can be done manually, as and when new things are purchased... That's how I do it.
