RDS RemoteApp, processing completed on server?

Hi,

 

Looking into RDS and watching some vids on RemoteApp.

 

After creating a installation package of a remote app and deploying through GPO the user opens up the app and it looks like it would if installed fully on the local machine.

 

Is it the server or the local machine that carries out the processing? Say encoding a video.

 

 

If they opened up a file on their memory stick would they have to wait for the file to transfer to the server before the Remote App loaded?

It's processed on the server side. Remoteapps basically use RDP but instead of giving you a full desktop, you get just the application window (e.g. powerpoint).

Not sure on this point.
