Excel 2013 crashes on opening

We use MDT to roll it out but it is the 'Education Software 2013' with drivers and notebook. Do you then install newer drivers over the top? Smart told me they don't recommend installing the newer drivers with 11.4 notebook. I'm willing to give it a go though!

Well thats basically what I am doing, however I have not updated the notebook packaged in a while and they may have updated the driver pack that is intergrated into the main "Education Software 2013". I would download a fresh copy of the whole thing, run a manual install, then check the driver version number. If it meets the current one advertised on thier website then you should be fine.

 

I deployed the whole school in Summer 2014, and since then I have had around 10 classrooms report about Excel not opening and freezing on the splash screen. I have run the driver install as a silent install from MDT on all of them and the problem has gone away.

 

Smart seem to say a lot of things, the last thing they said was that it will not work on our RDS server, however we put it on and its fine. The 1st line guys seem to just say whatever is easier at the time.

I have just downloaded Version 12 of the drivers and installed over the top of the others and can confirm that the issue is fixed - just don't know what other issues this might present! You've got to love Smart software!!!
