Bubbles Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 (edited) So I have a new Nexus 5 but for some reason, it is completely (at random) playing 8-bit style interference. It's the kind you get when you have a mobile phone too close to a speaker, but it's coming FROM the phone. I say playing because the interference is ALWAYS the same, a 'tune' of sorts that just loops. It does it if the phone is locked, unlocked, and will continually play if you use the phone. The only way I can seem to stop it is to 'drag' down the status bar at the top. The last time it did this, I got a recording and uploaded it to YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqHH1RJWqaQ I've scoured the internet and I can't seem to find ANYONE with this issue. The fact it also seems to play a tune has me doubting if it really is a hardware fault or not. Any suggestions or ideas as to what is happening? Edited March 3, 2014 by Bubbles
fairm010 Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 That is the weirdest thing. Have you restored it to eliminate software issues? 1
Bubbles Posted March 3, 2014 Author Posted March 3, 2014 I have just this moment completed a full factory reset on it. I've completed the basic activation of the handset but I'll leave it before restoring all my apps and data to see if it happens again.
Bubbles Posted March 3, 2014 Author Posted March 3, 2014 (edited) Oh dear. I seems I've failed heavily on this one. The sound in the video is a Kitkat ringtone called 'Spagnola Orchestration'. On my old phone, I had a sound profile app to manage volume levels for home, work, car, bluetooth connected etc. I restored the custom settings backup into the app on my Nexus 5 and looking at the sound profiles, the notification and sound ringtone names no longer show, but instead they seem to have what appears to be Unique ID numbers for them. Opening my e-mail notification sound and selecting the ID number took me to the list of ringtones and had the aforementioned 'Spagnola Orchestration' ringtone selected. My Nexus 5 was 'ringing' every time I got an e-mail! Edited March 3, 2014 by Bubbles

Bubbles Posted March 3, 2014 Author Posted March 3, 2014 Oh no! Ha, happens to us all. Ultimate troll ringtone! Indeed. Even more annoying now is I have to reconfigure my phone from scratch again! Oh well, you live and learn!
