FN-GM Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Hi, I am wondering if anyone has seen any tools that will allow us to Sync our home areas and sky drive please? The only thing that MS provide is designed to be run on the desktop, its not suitable for our needs. We need something to run on the server. Thanks
xenonive Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 I've not found anything , came to conclusion offer HAP and sky drive together
FN-GM Posted February 24, 2014 Author Posted February 24, 2014 Im thinking i could write something to do this. Get a script to map a skydrive network drive, sync the contents (using robocopy), dis-connect and then sync the next home area. I don't think it would be very efficient though.
xenonive Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Are you planning to map their skydive as primary drive ? Guessing you have no media editing requirements ?
FN-GM Posted February 24, 2014 Author Posted February 24, 2014 No, we will be using the internal file server as the primary. We can take a full library of backups that way. Also if the internet goes off we are stuffed. That's why i am after a sync solution, being stored in 2 places.
xenonive Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 If it's for backup maybe use document library in sharepoint online ?
FN-GM Posted February 24, 2014 Author Posted February 24, 2014 Its not for backup, just to add more options to edit files etc. You can get a neat iPad app and stuff.
Chris_Jones Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Did you make any progress with this? I would like to set up so all our pupils home folders are synced with the office 365 onedrive, but short of installing the app on all our workstations and getting them to set it up themselves I cannot see how to do this.
Dragon Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Not used this but only found last week Office 365 Drive Mapping for Enterprise Desktops - Home 1
FN-GM Posted September 22, 2014 Author Posted September 22, 2014 Nope never got anywhere. Put the app on all the machines and configuring it would be a nightmare!
zag Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Doesn't work as you have to authenticate multiple times
Chris_Jones Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Thanks for the script, not exactly what I am looking for but I'll have a play with it and see if I can get it to work.
