Opinions Wanted! - What would you say was the best method?!

Hi guys,

As some of you may know, if you saw the thread, I recently brought a relatively high end PC and I'm now wondering what the best way would be to maintain it, i.e. keeping dust out or to a minimum. How do you guys clean your PCs? Compressed air, take it apart and clean each component? How do you do it?

I'm not saying my PC is clogged already, no chance!! But I do see dust slowly gathering constantly on my work top/TV stand and it just makes me wonder how much is making its way in there and the process that should be taken to keep it in top notch condition.

Thanks

First step, make sure its not on your floor if possible.

I just air spray my rig every 6-9 months and clear the fans but I have a beast of a case so that takes an age.

Thanks for that @ZeroHour, unfortunately it is on my floor, I have no choose because it is a beast, but I have managed to get a bit of plywood which it is now sat on. So it's not directly on the floor and there are some monster feet on it!

Same as @ZeroHour however I am looking at mineral oil for my build but that's just me and a pipe dream :D lol

My machine however, I spray out every 6 months as a matter of routine (everything comes out, gets sprayed with air, cleaned, thermal paste gets re-done and I am happy)

Think I will do it every 6 months, get everything out, air blast everything and put it back in! :p

You wont need to remove much tbh, just any filters on intake fans, the insides are pretty easy to air blast/dust buster without removing things. If you dont have filters on your fans I would possibly consider buying ones as it will reduce carp going in.

I don't think I have got filters, will buy some, thinking of getting another fan too... What filters/fans do you use? I've been reading online some are better than others and some say they aren't even worth the hassle... When I've spent so much, thought it can't hurt to try!

They sadly came with the case, I have an Antec 1000:

When I can't see the blue lights I know the filters need a clear :D the whole front grill has filters on the fans, they still let a bit of dust through etc but when I take them out and see how much didnt get in I know they are working well.
