question? Computer Proxy settings with no user?

Probably should have asked this years ago. I've noticed that my PCs sometimes ask my ISA firewall (which is a web proxy) for access to the internet. This is without users logged in. So I'll see a request from domain\pcname and of course it's rejected.

 

Why are my PCs asking the ISA server for web access. The proxy configuration is set in GPO but as a pupil user setting. Is this a winhttp thing? Should I set access for the PCs when there is no current user? and is there a GPO for that? Or how do I add exceptions for local addresses when there is no user?

 

They shouldn't need internet resources, as the wsus on the lan and locally available.

 

EDIT: Clarify.. I see some requests for Microsoft even though WSUS is configured and updates work. I see on wireshark the request going out to ISA every now and then.

is the group policy that changes proxy to a machine level setting also set?
