Hi,

Weve recently taken control of a new network. Our LEA has setup th evlan so we can have two way full network access.

Ive run constant ping checks and not one has failed.

For some reason the server cannot copy anything large accross the network.

Ive tried doing a backup straight to the nas and even copying and pasting just the folders.

Ive also tried copying the data to one of our file servers.

The files start to copy and then it just fails after a while and the the network location is no longer available.

The nas isnt part f any domain and has its own access password, the file server is on our domain which is different to the new school.

The only thing i can thing of is that after a while if the connection times out because i havnt browsed the files in explorer.

Cant thinkg of anything else at the min or the anwer of any timeouts.

Any ideas?

I had this once with a NAS and large files where I had two issues.

1. The NAS was originally connected to a 100Mb port on the switch, moving to a gig helped.

2. There was only 512Mb of RAM installed, ramping this up to 2gig helped keep things running nicely.

Don't overlook potential switching config issues if you switch supports jumbo packets make sure it is enabled.
