MattDLEA Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 OK so I have a nice new NAS box that I can now set proper folder permissions on so kids cant delete data or move folders. What I need to be able to do is to copy the data from the old NAS box to the new NAS box. This is not home directories but the shared folders like teachers work and pupil work. So is in use most of the time during the day. Im guessing then after the data has been transferred I go in to SYSVOL and remap the drives for staff and kids. The problem is IM only onsite 8:30 - 4:30 . How would you go about this?
spadam Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Do it during half term? - If you don't work then then just trade it for a day in term time.. That way you will have plenty of time to test it's working correctly on the new NAS and correct any problems if it doesn't go as you expect..
cogrady84 Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 If I was doing this i would probably use DFS with FSMT or Robocopy. But I would also suggest doing this during a holiday of some kind, makes everything much simpler!
