At the moment we have to get the data off students phones as they are recording english speaking and listening on their phones, so Android phones ... not a problem, however iphones are causing an issue.

When we plug in a students iphone running IOS7.x to our machines in the office, we are prompted to either trust or dont trust this computer. I dont want to choose trust just incase it syncs all the students contacts with my itunes on my machine. Also, what effect will this have when they sync their phone back at home.

I was wondering if anyone has done this without any issues or if someone has this where you have sync'd a phone at home and connects it via USB to a work machine to get data off it.

Ill give that one a go. At the moment ive got iexplorer which is used to get into the apps of the iphone/ipod but if the trust/dont trust message comes up then ill struggle to get anywhere with the dam things. Until i trust a device with my machine, it wont let you in, however, im not sure what the implications are if i was to choose trust.

I'm pretty sure things wont start syncing until Itunes is involved....

and then if the device is new to iTunes it should warn you first....

Well it seems we took the risk and trusted one of our machines in the office to talk to one of the students' iphone and it didnt sync with the machine. It seems you need to trust to even get into the device. Just thought i would confirm this.
