featured_spectre Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 (edited) As the title suggests, we are looking at upgrading all 3 at my current establishment. Wifi - currently running netgear WAP54Gs which are dying slowly Filtering - currently none in place, but looking for one. Smoothwall @tom_newton, I am looking at you here, but if anyone else has a solution, I am open to suggestions. VPN - literally do not have the time to set one up, so need help in getting one up and running, for roughly 25-50 users. Needs to be secure, as they work with sensitive legal documents. @Net-Ctrl, @CPLTD, @VeryPC, @Millgate and anyone I may missed, feel free to shoot PMs my way! FN-GM Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 (edited) I have just had Ruckus installed with thanks to @CPLTD impressed with the results. Very easy to use and works really well. I setup a access point the other day, i set the VLAN plugged it in and it pickup a firmware updated itself and configured itself. The most tricky part was putting it up! You should be able to combine VPN with Smoothwall. Might save a few quid. Edited January 25, 2014 by FN-GM 2
featured_spectre Posted January 25, 2014 Author Posted January 25, 2014 I have used @CPLTD in the past fpr ruckus and they were great....looking at all angles hear however as we have to do massive justifications for costs. 1
timbo343 Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 @CPLTD provided me with my ruckus last year and not had one problem with it at all. Ok they only supplied it to me after i carried out all the testing and they were fine with me doing the tests and installs myself. Once i got the smoothwall in feb last year nothing has missed a beat with smoothwall giving out dhcp addresses over the vlan 3
IrritableTech Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Remember that whoever lodges your ruckus quote first will get preferential pricing, unless something has changed recently. This is an annoying part of procuring a ruckus solution. Difficult for the resellers too. Depending on how hands on you want to be, ubiquiti kit is proving reliable and pretty fast. I'd throw lightspeed into the suggestion pot for filtering - a real quick win if you're looking at byod and the monitoring is good. VPN - many firewalls have this as standard, so it depends on your fire walling needs. 1
robk Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Ruckus and a smooth wall utm would do all of the above including vpn. 1

Why not get in touch as Fortinet can do everything you require and more all in one box which will work out rather cost effective. We are also about to do our 3 for 2 offer on wireless access points again too! 1
