[wds] [Srv2008 R2] Intel HD 4000 Driver Issue W7 x86

Hi all,

We have few new Dell's on our site, I have added successfully network, fall sensor drivers to WDS and they deploy fine and are installed after re-image job.

I have also decided to update the Intel HD graphic drivers on WDS server (as the previous person left igfxtray.exe + 2 other apps to startup with machines). But new graphic drivers don't install at all, I can do it manually afterwards forcing the unsigned driver to be installed. Also tried drivers from Dell website and 2 different versions from Intel website. Are unsigned drivers an issue or am I missing something else?

Being me, instead of disabling the old drivers I have delete them from WDS, so can't go back - as I thought new ones will pick up with no problems.

Srv 2008 R2, deploying to W7 x86 machines.

Drivers do need to be signed to be automatically installed, whichever method you're using. When doing things manually a warning window usually appears informing you of the 'potential' problems.

Intel's own driver website is the best place

That's the trouble as I have tried both versions available on Intel website, can't find any archives to test older ones.

All back to normal now, I have learnt on my own skin. By editing *.inf file (to remove igfxtray from startup) I was removing signature from driver which then wasn't deploying with WDS (as it was unsigned). I'll remember this for a while

Glad you sorted it The better way to stop the igfxtray appearing is using a GPP regedit to delete the entry in the registry. This could be a per user or per computer GPP setting you'd have to create.
