FN-GM Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Hello, I was just wondering. Is it possible to add an Axis Camera to 2 Milstone xProtect servers please? If you can do you need 2 Licenses? Thanks
plexer Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 2 servers recording the same camera stream? You may need a camera that supports multiple streams but yes you woukd need a licence on each server. Ben 1
FN-GM Posted January 16, 2014 Author Posted January 16, 2014 2 servers recording the same camera stream? Thought someone would ask. We are a PFI school. We have a behavior CCTV system and the building owner has a separate security CCTV system. We are permitted to view the security side but its a pain having 2 separate systems this would make things much easier. Cheers
FN-GM Posted January 16, 2014 Author Posted January 16, 2014 Couple of examples If we want to follow someone say though a corridor, you see them on the behaviour system, they then pass a camera on the security CCTV system. You have to open another client window find the correct point and camera etc. They might then reappear on the behaviour and you have to switch back again. If it was on all 1 console you can see all 3 cameras on the same screen. You can export the video and see all cameras at once if they are on the same console. The behaviour system is AD integrated, the security system isn't. We have to have totally separate accounts for the security side. Thats not the major thing, just an inconvenience.
plexer Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 They are running one of the lower end milestone versions then if it doesn't have AD integration. What camera model is it/are they? Ben
FN-GM Posted January 16, 2014 Author Posted January 16, 2014 (edited) They are running one of the lower end milestone versions then if it doesn't have AD integration Ben They don't have a lower end version. They have the professional version it can run on AD. But they don't have an AD. Its just a standalone server. It won't be going onto our AD. Its on a VLAN that has an ACL blocking it access to our VLANS. We can get onto there VLAN though. What camera model is it/are they? Axis M50xx series. Thanks Edited January 16, 2014 by FN-GM
plexer Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Ahh ok I see those series cams can send multiple streams so could have them on both but would need the extra licences. It's only when you have multiple streams from a camera on one server you don't need an additional licence for example we have once multi stream camera where the 2nd stream in milestone is zoomed in slightly to cover a particular area which as they are good quality is ok. FN-GM Posted January 16, 2014 Author Posted January 16, 2014 Cheers @plexer - How much are the licenses (ish) ? Cheers
plexer Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 We pay about £19 but that's for essentials higher end versions will be more. Ben 1
